The Ogomaku ritual involves entrusting wishes to goma wood, which are then burned in sacred fire. It starts with an exchange between mountain ascetics and concludes with the dismantling of the goma altar, allowing everyone to partake in fire-walking. Held at Kamado Shrine for about 40 years under the auspices of the Houmanzan Shugen Association, this annual event sees around 100 participants walking barefoot over hot ashes, praying for health and safety. Goma wood, which can be inscribed with wishes and offered to the fire, is available for ¥300.
