Set against the Kanmon Straits, which can be crossed in just five minutes, one of Japan’s largest candle events lights up the area with 30,000 candles. In the Moji Port (Mojiko) area, a Christmas market offers festive goods and food. To mark the event’s 14th year, Kanmon Kisen, the ferry connecting Karato (Shimonoseki) and Mojikō, will operate one hour later than usual—last departures at 22:30 from Shimonoseki and 22:50 from Mojiko.
