From Mojiko’s modern-era buildings and Yahata’s industrial heritage to works by architects Arata Isozaki and Togo Murano, this architecture event invites visitors to explore Kitakyushu on foot and discover how the city took shape. Special access to spaces normally closed to the public and expert-led tours reveal the industries, everyday lives and local memories behind the buildings.
The event spans Moji, Kokurakita, Tobata, Yahatahigashi and Yahatanishi wards. Sites that require no advance registration include JR Mojiko Station, Kitakyushu Municipal Central Library, the buildings of Kyushu Institute of Technology, and the Former Yasukawa Residence.
Other visits require advance registration, including an Arata Isozaki architecture tour covering Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art and the Central Library, as well as guided tours of Moji Golf Club and the Former Yahata Civic Hall. Visitors can focus on a single building that catches their interest or choose an area to explore through its architecture and surrounding streets.
