A signature autumn event in Kitakyushu, where around 30,000 bamboo lanterns illuminate the area surrounding Kokura Castle in a magical glow. The lanterns are made from bamboo harvested locally in Kitakyushu’s forests. Visitors can bring a lighter and join in lighting the candles at 17:30. Bamboo crafts such as cups and coasters will be available for purchase, along with hands-on workshops.
