Kyushu Asia Coffee Festival returns to Hakata Hankyu for its fourth edition, bringing together roasters and specialty coffee shops from across Kyushu, Okinawa, and Asia. Visitors can compare coffees from Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, and Okinawa, alongside guest shops from South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Thailand.
A cup of coffee reflects not only where the beans were grown and how they were roasted and brewed, but also the ideas of the people behind the shop and the character of its home region. Using a dedicated mini mug and tasting tickets, visitors can sample small servings from different vendors while discovering the varied coffee cultures of Kyushu and Asia. Conversations with roasters and shop owners offer another way to learn about the places and communities behind each cup.
The festival also features a selection of sweets and snacks designed to pair with coffee. Expect baked goods made with rice flour and gluten-free ingredients, crepes and tarts featuring seasonal fruit, as well as distinctive breads and gelato from shops around Kyushu.
