Once a year at the Miare Festival, three Goddesses (two coming from Okitsu-miya in Okinoshima and Nakatsu-miya in Oshima) gather at Hetsu-miya, the main holy structure of Munakata Taisha. The festival symbolizes traditions of worship at the shrine and its associated heritage sites. Don’t miss the start of the festival; an on-water ritual where some hundreds of fishery boats parade across the sea is a spectacle to see! Drone footage of the scene will be live-streamed at Michinoeki Munakata.
