The artist duo Docuperu (Jose Balado & Jimena Mora), who participated in the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum’s Artist-in-Residence program in 2022, are returning to Japan and preparing for a new film project in Ukiha City, Fukuoka Prefecture. To mark the occasion, their 2023-acquired film Mist will be screened, followed by a talk and Q&A session with the directors.
Mist is a visual documentary that explores the lives of those engaged in ancestral fishing traditions along the northern coast of Peru through three interconnected stories. The film received the Peruvian Ministry of Culture’s Documentary Production Award (2018) and has been screened at major film festivals worldwide, earning numerous accolades.
