Don’t miss your chance to see the sunset along the wondrous Path of Light, which runs directly from the Miyajihama to the steps leading up to Miyajidake Shrine in Fukutsu City. The sight of this long stretch of road bathed in golden light is only visible twice a year, during a week in late February and late October. The winter Sunset Festival will be held from Oct. 15 to Oct. 23, when the view of the Path of Light is at its best.
During the festival, a limited number of free numbered tickets will be distributed from 14:00 on the day of the festival to allow visitors to view the path on the stairs. If you wish to have a special seat for prayer to view the Path of Light after the prayer, please make a reservation by phone. Please note that the staircase up to the shrine will be used as a viewing platform for the sunset festival from 15:00 to sunset, so it will not be possible to ascend or descend then. For those interested in collecting a memory from the shrine, a special “Path of Light” goshuin (seal stamps) will be available.
