Kurume Kasuri is a traditional textile from Fukuoka known for its comfort and craftsmanship, attracting attention both in Japan and abroad. Traditionally worn as workwear, monpe trousers made from this cotton fabric are now embraced as stylish everyday wear.
Monpe Expo, organized by regional culture brand Unagi no Nedoko, brings together over 5,000 pairs of monpe in one place. Visitors can explore a wide variety of designs and fabrics, including Unagi no Nedoko originals and pieces made by renowned Kasuri weavers such as Nomura Orimono, Marugame Kasuri Orimono, Sakata Orimono, and Shimokawa Orimono. A rare chance to see the diversity and evolution of this iconic garment.
