Fukuoka City, known for its fresh and delicious food, hosts two popular events in November: an annual fair selling local rice, vegetables, and seafood products, and a special monthly open day at the Nagahama Fish Market.
Held on the second Saturday each month, the Citizen Appreciation Day at Nagahama Fish Market is a favorite among locals. Sections of the market typically closed to the public are opened, and visitors can buy fresh seafood and processed products at bargain prices, creating a lively “first come, first served” atmosphere. The event includes professional filleting demonstrations and fish exhibits, making it family-friendly and educational for children. A highlight is the tuna-cutting show, where crowds gather to watch and quickly purchase the freshly cut tuna.
