Nagasaki Lantern Festival

START: Feb 5, 2019 END: Feb 19, 2019

Nagasaki celebrates its historical ties with China with 15,000 lanterns arranged in displays across the city, including lanterns in the shape of Chinese historical figures, zodiac animals and more. Parades, acrobats, lion dancers, and festival food too. Runs for two full weeks. An ideal day trip from Fukuoka City.

On 2/15 at 15:00, head to Dejima Omotemon Bridge and write your wish on a lantern (¥1,000, limit 300 lanterns). Then at 19:30 these lanterns will be released into the sky. The sight of the floating lanterns filling up the Nagasaki night sky is spectacular!
