Setsubun Festival at Miyajidake Shrine

At the “Mamemaki (bean-scattering)” rituals held at Miyajidake Shrine on January 28-29 and February 2-3, people of the unlucky years, as well as those born in the zodiac year of the rabbit, wear costumes and pray for good luck and good fortune, shouting “Fuku wa Uchi, Oni wa Soto” (good luck is inside, bad luck is outside). Visitors who gather at the shrine try to catch the beans as a good-luck charm.
