This new event brings together shishi (lion heads) used in traditional folk rituals from about 30 communities across Fukuoka City. Shishi Festival Fukuoka will be held for the first time, featuring various lion dances and purification performances, along with a special appearance by Ise Daikagura from Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture. Dynamic and colorful dances will be performed in front of Shiomi-yagura Turret and at the north side of Sannomaru Square in Maizuru Park, where a market offering seasonal autumn foods will also be held. The festival celebrates Fukuoka’s traditional culture and the flavors of autumn.
