From her childhood in Minneapolis all the way to her settling in Japan in 2008, in passing through the New York contemporary dance scene and then unto Paris, the dancer and choreographer Susan Buirge talks of her path: an entire life in the space of dance. During this 1.5 hour conference, Susan portrays her stories as a female artist constantly questioning the essence of dance itself, her encounters and research, emotions and reflexions, travels and discoveries nourish the unique testimony of this adventurer of dance.

Susan Buirge was born in 1940, in the United States. She danced with the Alwin Nikolais Company in New York from 1963 to 1967, before settling in Paris in 1970. New works follow one after the other for this choreographer situated at the heart of “the French Nouvelle Danse” and influences an entire generation of dancers and choreographers. In 2008, Susan Buirge moved from France to Japan.
