Returning for the 12th time, this event gives visitors the chance to learn more about the history of coal mining in Tagawa. An area with strong links to the industry, Tagawa was home to the Miike Mine, which is referred to in the famous Japanese folk song Tanko Bushi. During the festival, two huge coal mine chimneys will be lit up after the sun goes down. There will be a special display of candles on the first night, while the highlight of the final day will be a huge performance of Tanko Bushi amidst the surroundings that are described in the lyrics.
