The Tanabata Banquet at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine was first held in 1046 and has been regularly held since 1957. During the event, many people visit the shrine to wish for growth in studies, the arts, and culture, as well as good luck. These wishes are written on strips of colorful paper called tanzaku, which will then decorate the approach to the shrine, making it a sight to behold! The Tanabata Festival will also be held to make these wishes come true.
