“Thinning” is an initiative from Itoshima that aims to raise awareness about the challenges facing our forests through a fun marketplace. The project focuses on “marine plastic waste” collected at regular beach cleaning events. By recycling this plastic waste into products that are then sold, the initiative contributes to the protection of our marine environment. Seven shops aligned with the cause will set up stalls, selling works and miscellaneous items made from recycled marine plastic waste, and hosting workshops and other activities. In addition, there will be gourmet foods from Itoshima on sale, including salt pudding from Mataichi no Shio, a company committed to reducing plastic waste, and lemonade from John Lemon, a lemon grower based in Itoshima. Other delectable offerings from Thinning members will also be available.
