“Thinning” is an outdoor market which aims to increase public awareness about the problems that Japanese mountains currently face and also to help protect the country’s forests. The name refers to the ecological practice of forest thinning and the timber that can be used from this process. The market features approximately 30 stalls selling everything from outdoor brand North Face to wooden crafts and organic sweets. There will also be interactive attractions for visitors to learn more about trees and nature. Make sure to check out the special lumberjack bento box that comes with a mini saw which can be used to chop up the food!
