Wasshoi Hyakuman Summer Festival, the largest event in Kitakyushu, is a two-day summer tradition. On the first day (Aug 3), there will be a grand gathering of summer festivals from across Kitakyushu, including Tobata Gion Oyamagasa, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Kokura Gion Daiko. The second day features a yosakoi dance performance with 36 teams and a Hyakuman dance with about 3,500 participants from 51 groups filling the streets, drawing a total of 15,000 attendees. The day before the festival (Aug 2), there will be fireworks.
