Framed against the serene Minou Mountains, a stunning allee stretches about 1.2 kilometers, lined with wax trees that transition into a resplendent red in the autumn. When the foliage is at its peak, this tree-lined avenue transforms into a walker’s haven, bustling with vendors who set up shop along the way to sell fresh farm produce and artisanal goods sourced from the local verdure. These wax trees, numbering around 260, share a history of nearly 270 years, originally planted by the Kurume Domain to harvest wax for candles. Amidst this historical grove, the changing leaves of the adjacent persimmon orchards further enrich the view, painting a quintessential autumn landscape in this bountiful countryside.
