Now in its third year, Festa di Spumante is known as otona no natsu matsuri or summer festival for grown-ups, and it’s easy to see why – this festival boasts 53 different sparkling wines from 10 countries. If you drop by, you surely won’t stop at just one glass! You’ll want to try them all! And Fukuoka Now went on July 20 to see, taste, and experience the festivities for ourselves!
You can come and go at the grounds as you please, but paying ¥2,900 will get you 10 drink tickets and your own Festa di Spumante wine glass. Head on over to the wine booths and choose your first drink for the night. A glass of wine requires between two and six tickets. If you’re craving for more, additional drink tickets can be bought for ¥200 each.
Food perfectly paired with the wine selection are also on offer. Pay in cash, choose a spot by the standing bar area or by the tables near the stage, and have a relaxed night eating, sipping, and listening to music while chilling with your friends – or even by yourself!
We came upon some friends from Italy currently vacationing in Japan. They were very happy to discover this festival and are having a good time!
We even got to chill with musical act Yalla Family after their performance!
When you’ve finished your drink, head to the rinsing area to wash your glass before choosing your next one.
Our pick is La Vague Bleue Sparkling Blue from France. Aside from being drawn to the color, the grapefruit-y taste won us over!
If you want some quiet time away from the festivities, enter this glamping (glamorous camping) setup at one corner of the grounds. Drinks should be left outside, but you can stay as long as you like.
