Merican, located down a dark and twisting stairway, bills itself as a modern-day speakeasy. But wait, it’s a barber shop too?! Walk through the old-school barber shop and there’s a long counter bar and spacious lounge area. With touches of a neoclassical Showa era coffee shop, Void sound system and ping pong table, it has a secret hideout vibe. Enjoy a whisky or alcoholic cream soda at the counter or on a velvet covered sofa. If you’re hungry, try the filling spaghetti Neapolitan. Music events held irregularly. Open from noon and then again until the wee hours.
