Tatsumi Sushi has been a favorite of local Fukuokans since it opened just outside of the Nagahama Seafood Market in 1980. The original sushi, which use the freshest fish and serve to highlight the chefs’ ingenuity, are already seasoned so you don’t need to dip them in soy sauce. The popular inarizushi, or vinegared rice wrapped in fried tofu, use the well-known Nankan-age fried tofu from Kumamoto. Only served on weekdays, lunch starts at a reasonable ¥1,900. Other local specialties include live squid sashimi as well as dishes made from saw-edged perch and fugu pufferfish.
