That was fun, eh! 1,011 people attend the Fukuoka Canada Day last Friday, June 28. The event was held at the brand new, spacious and gorgeous Tenjin Monolith. The weather cooperated so guests also enjoyed the summer breeze on the outdoor patio. Manulife’s mascot “Manubi” the beaver roamed the venue meeting guests, while Fukuoka VJ Hara took the party to the next level with projectors set up all over the venue displaying cool graphics throughout the night. Inside, singer/guitarist Roman Rhodes from Quebec (via Nara) played three sets of Canadian tunes. Our MCs, TK and Nita kept guests busy and entertained with a Canadian trivia quiz, Canadian costume awards and a lucky draw for a free round trip air ticket between Fukuoka and Vancouver on China Airlines. The lucky winner was Junichi Tanaka! Congratulations!

The first 300 guests to arrive enjoyed delicious Canadian lobster tails, while the full menu included Canadian beef and pork, poutine, pancakes. The bar served Canadian beer, ginger ale, CC cocktails and Canadian wine. On the first floor, Canadian booths included Manulife, Hirata Sangyo (with free maple syrup tastings!) and a tattoo booth. Special thanks to everyone who helped make this once again the biggest and best Canada Day Party in Japan – including Manulife., China Airlines, SFoods, Nitto Shoji Ltd., Embassy of Canada, and our wonderful venue Tenjin Monolith!
