Any thoughts of the cold night outside melted away on Friday Feb. 14, as just shy of 500 well-dressed guests entered the classy venue of Hotel With the Style for a night of jazz, chocolate, Italian food, dance, champagne, cocktails and socializing at the Fukuoka Now Valentine’s Party 2014.
The hotel’s pool centrepiece, moody lighting and dual room layout never fail to provide a great backdrop for the annual Valentine’s bash. Those looking for something sweet flocked to the chocolate fountain, while other guests chose to warm up with a drink in hand and a room full of interesting people to chat to. Never a dull moment as partygoers were treated to a program of jazzy love songs by 6-piece jazz band Arbeitman & Salaryman throughout the night, and acid jazz beats by DJ Takeshi Hirakuri, plus special appearances by the eye-catching latin song-and-dance foursome Stilo Kramelo – launching their debut CD on the night – and locally based Miami rapper Roro, who previewed his new single “Doesn’t Mean I’m Lost” with vocals by Risa Kumon.
Three lucky partygoers received luxurious door prizes from Spa Ceylon, and the night’s highly coveted title of “Best Dressed” male and female were swept up by a lovely lady in a full red kimono and a rather dapper gentleman in a bow tie. Each winner was handed a voucher for a dinner for two at Hotel With the Style or The Luigan’s Spa & Resort. The party went on into the night – with the very international crowd sharing Valentine’s Day in Hakata. Stay tuned for the next Fukuoka Now party!
