This month, our guest is Heeki Park, the founder and manager of a well-known yoga studio in the city, Yoga Breeze. She organizes workshops around the world, teaches classes and facilitates exchanges between yogin (practitioners of yoga). Upon entering the café, she was taken by the chic interior and didn’t spend long deciding on her order – a scone with Moreno Cedroni jam, made from fresh Italian fruit.
Heeki is from Seoul. After high school, she decided to attend university in California and it was here that she first encountered yoga. Her interest in it took her to India and then Fukuoka, where she established her studio. Although she tries to follow a vegan diet as closely as possible, she had no problem ordering the chocolat gateau and ice-cream parfait (¥924).
“It won’t make me happy if I follow veganism strictly,” she admitted with a smile. “I want to eat what my body wants, so I won’t follow any strict diet.” Already living actively as an yoga instructor, studio manager and English, Korean and Japanese interpreter, she wants to spread yoga as a way of life. When we asked about the most important things in her life, she told us, smiling, that her partner, who she met in America is number one. Tucked into the back of ELLE CAFÉ the VIP room caught her eye and she remarked “it would be ideal for a private yoga class”. Seems she’s always has yoga on her mind, and her aforementioned significant other, as she did a little souvenir shopping in the ELLE CAFÉ shop too!
