Fukuoka Urban Research Center (URC) has published their 2016 reports detailing the growth and networks of Fukuoka as a “global city.” The report “Cities on the ‘Third Axis’ plus 3” evaluates the global competitiveness of nine cities all over the globe which includes Fukuoka and similar cities Stockholm, Helsinki, Busan, Seattle, Vancouver, Melbourne, Munich, and Barcelona. Meanwhile, the report “Global Networks of Fukuoka” illustrates the global networks formed by Fukuoka as a city aiming to become a leader city in Asia, and its international functions as a global exchange base. URC aims to further contribute to the development of Fukuoka as a global city through these reports. Both reports are available online here: Cities on the ‘Third Axis’ plus 3 and Global Networks of Fukuoka.
