It has recently been disclosed that about 600 million yen worth of gold was stolen on a street in front of JR Hakata Station in the spring of 2016. The gold was being delivered to a jewelry shop and was stolen by men dressed as police officers. The police think that the crime was related to organised crime groups and the case is still under investigation. The robbers approached the workmen delivering the gold and questioned them. They then ordered the workmen to hand over the briefcase and, when the workmen weren’t looking, the robbers drove away with the briefcase. The briefcase weighed over 100kg.
