South Korea’s Asiana Airlines has decided to restart its regular service between Miyazaki and Seoul three times a week from September 27, marking the end of a pause in operations that began in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline communicated the decision in response to an appeal for early service resumption from Governor Kono Shunji of Miyazaki Prefecture during his recent South Korea visit. Asiana Airlines also reported successful use of its charter flights during the first quarter of the year, noticing a high demand among golf tourists, in particular. In light of this, Governor Kono expressed his confidence that the resumed regular flights would play a crucial role in invigorating the economy of Miyazaki Prefecture by promoting inbound tourism, and pledged to put in efforts to boost its usage.
