As Kitakyushu prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary of participating in municipal government, the city looks upon a new challenge– to introduce Kitakyushu’s local products to the world. With this in mind, the Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu has collaborated with a London-based, Japanese typographic designer Eiichi Kono to develop a new font named “CCArtSans”. CCA Kitakyushu carries out a variety of collaborative projects with the internationally recognized artists as professorship. Eiichi Kawano is regarded as one of the top typographic designers in the world. He was born in Japan in 1941 and moved to England in 1974. The CCArtSans typeface is “clean, modern, clear in small type sizes and distinctive in display. The CCArtSans typeface is founded…with the aim of regenerating freshness and individuality”. CCA hopes to introduce and distribute the font to the world. It is the first time for a museum in Japan to develop its own font. More info: www.cca-kitakyushu.org
