Chimaki-ya, the only department store in Yamaguchi City, closed all operations on August 31st. The company operating the store, which has been in business for 153 years, will reorganize and reopen as a real estate rental company. The building itself will reopen in October as a branch of the Izutsu-ya department store chain based in Kitakyushu.
