How would you like to paint an original mural that will brighten up Fukuoka’s Daimyo district? Applications are currently open for artists to submit their ideas for a commissioned mural design in Daimyo! The mural theme is “Born”, inferring the new life that the artwork will bring to the the already vibrant inner-city area where old and new cultures mix. The ideal candidate artist should: 1. Be interested in city art and understand the project goal, 2. Be able to join the organiser’s workshops and events relating to the project, 3. Be able to communicate in Japanese. The selected artwork must be original and previously unpublished. The judging panel will make their selection by the end of August 2013. The project itself takes place in October. Support for the chosen artist includes provided materials, and ¥30,000 (TBC) towards production costs.
