An educational corporation operating a primary school and a combined junior high and high school in Kitakyushu, and a primary school in Fukuoka City, for ethnic Koreans has come under suspicion of having illegally applied for subsidies from two local governments, it was learned. The city of Kitakyushu says that the categories and amount of 2.28 million yen in subsidies is almost identical to the application the corporation submitted to Fukuoka Prefecture. It is illegal to receive overlapping subsidies from two local governments.
