Digital Blackmail Drama: Teen Nabbed for Sordid Social Media Threat!

A high school student has been apprehended on May 22nd for allegedly blackmailing a woman by threatening to post an apologetic video of her, fully unclothed and kneeling, on social media. According to the woman, the accused student threatened to reveal this video unless she paid him 50,000 yen ($445) in electronic currency.

The police report states that in December of last year, the 18-year-old high school student from Ashiya City in Hyogo Prefecture threatened the woman, a 20-year-old resident of Kasuga City at the time, over a video call on social media. The student reportedly intimidated the woman by threatening to post the video if she did not pay the 50,000 yen, leading to suspicions that he extorted the electronic money from her.

The case came to light when the woman sought advice from the Kasuga Police Station of the Fukuoka Prefecture Police in January this year. The boy is believed to have become angry when the woman blocked him on social media. When questioned by the police, the student declined to comment. The woman stated that she had been filmed in the compromising video, and the police are investigating further into the circumstances of the incident. Source: KBC
