JR West revealed that the economic effect of the complete opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen has resulted in an upward revision of the projected revenue increase for FY 2012 from 8.5 to 12.0 billion yen. The increase in riders has been greater than anticipated. They also said the recovery from the expected downturn after the Tohoku earthquake was faster than expected, and that transport revenue in the April-June quarter rose 5%.
