Electric Kickboard Rider Arrested For Drunk Driving

A 24-year-old man was arrested for riding an electric kickboard on the road in Fukuoka City without a license and under the influence of alcohol. The 24-year-old suspect was pulled over on the street in Maizuru, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, just after 4:00 a.m. on the 25th of last month. When police officers checked the odor of alcohol, they found alcohol exceeding the standard level in his breath. He said he was unaware he needed a license. Electric kickboards are now available under a trial program within central Fukuoka City. According to the police, there have been 19 traffic violations related to kickboards in Fukuoka Prefecture from April to the end of July, including one for riding on sidewalks. The police are urging people to follow the rules. Source: NHK
