Female Preference to Remain Housewives Rises in Saga Prefecture

Saga Prefecture recently conducted a survey among its residents about the ideal roles of men and women in society. Those who agreed with a clear division of roles, with the men working and the women remaining housewives, totaled 38% of the men and 34% of the women. This is an increase of two percentage points for men from the previous 2004 survey and nine percentage points for women. The highest aggregate score was for a lifestyle that balanced work and home, which was preferred by 36% of both the men and women.
