The Fukuoka branch of credit rating company Tokyo Shoko Research released statistics for bankruptcies of companies exceeding 10 million yen in the Kyushu-Okinawa region in February. The statistics show that 85 companies shut their doors during the month, a 25.4% drop from the year-before period. This is the first year-on-year decline in regional bankruptcies in 14 months. It’s also the first time there have been fewer than 100 bankruptcies in 13 months. The aggregate value of the bankruptcies declined 7.5%.
