The Nishinippon Shimbun did a survey of primary exchange-listed companies based in Kyushu or Yamaguchi Prefecture for their consolidated results for the fiscal year ending March 2009. The outlook is the worst since the collapse of the IT bubble during the year ended March 2002. A total of 83.5% of the listed companies will suffer earnings declines. In particular, the manufacturing industry overall will post an aggregate loss, its first in seven years.
