Five-Star Ritz-Carlton Debuts in Fukuoka, Eyes Affluent Tourists

The Ritz-Carlton, an international luxury hotel chain, has officially opened its doors in the heart of Fukuoka City, Japan. There is a growing interest in how this five-star-rated hotel brand’s debut might attract new tourists, including affluent ones, and possibly lead to the hosting of international conferences.

The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka opened on June 21st and is located within the recently completed Fukuoka Daimyo Garden City commercial complex, occupying floors 18 to 24. A grand opening ceremony was held on the same day, featuring a ribbon-cutting event attended by key stakeholders.

The hotel offers 167 rooms, with decor featuring Hakata-ori and Kokura-ori weavings, traditional local textile arts. From the rooms, guests can enjoy a panoramic view of Hakata Bay and an expansive vista of Fukuoka City from an indoor pool set against a floor-to-ceiling window. Moreover, the lobby floor on the 18th level houses a restaurant, bar, and cafe. The Japanese restaurant serves dishes crafted from fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from Kyushu, including Kuroge Wagyu beef from Iki, Nagasaki Prefecture, and seafood from the Genkai Sea.

Room rates start from 100,000 yen per night, while the top-tier suite is available from 2.5 million yen per night. The hotel’s entry into the city is expected to not only draw affluent tourists but also potentially position Fukuoka as a more appealing destination for international conferences. Source: NHK
