On Nov. 29, the Kyushu District Transport Bureau announced the number of foreigners entering Kyushu in Sep. 2012 increased by 30.4 % from Sep. 2011. A total of 85,000 foreigners were recorded entering Kyushu during the one year period. The popularity of the ferry service between Busan, Korea and Nagasaki is one of the contributing factors to the rise in numbers, which has peaked over the past seven months.
However, recently the number of visitors from Korea and China has seen some decline, in reaction to territorial disputes between Japan and the nations. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun Nov. 30, p.17
