Fukuoka and Saga Governors Visit Switzerland to Attract ILC

The Governor of Fukuoka, Mr. Hiroshi Ogawa, and the Governor of Saga, Mr. Yasushi Furukawa will attend the CERN (Conseil Europeen pour la Recherche Nucleaire) conference in Geneva, Switzerland on May 13. Their main goal in attending is to promote Kyushu as an ideal location for the ILC (International Linear Collider). The pair will meet the CEO of CERN, and to enter into discussions with the director of CERN. There are five candidate sites currently vying for the ILC, including areas in Switzerland, Russia, America, Mt. Kitakami (Tohoku), and Mt. Sefuri (Fukuoka). It is estimated to cost approximately eight hundred billion yen to build the ILC. On May 8 at a press conference in Fukuoka, Governor Ogawa announced that he will try his best to discuss and promote the Sefuri region as the top candidate site. Nishinippon Shimbun, May 9.
