Fukuoka-based Sustainable Rice Straw Manufacturer Expanding

Fukuoka-based UPay prepares for the new environmental laws to take effect towards the creation of a plastic-smart society. Beginning in April 2022, companies will be encouraged to reduce the use of plastic straws for better sustainability, and UPay’s rice-made straws are gaining increased attention nationwide. The maker will develop a new factory in Onojo City in the summer of 2022 to meet the growing demands for plastic-straw alternatives. Source: Nikkei
