Due to recent tense relations between Japan and China, Fukuoka City announced on 9/18 that they will postpone plans to host 800 Chinese bureaucrats per year to study garbage disposal and water conservation technologies. Fukuoka City says “Under the circumstance like this, we cannot expect the ideal result that we hoped to have. We are very concerned about the tense relationship with China.” Throughout Kyushu, international conventions, special lectures at universities and visit to China seminars are also cancelled.
