London-based Monocle Magazine’s “Liveable Cities Index for 2021” just came out, and for the first time since 2008, Fukuoka City has missed the cut. Why now? Monocle doesn’t elaborate or even mention Fukuoka, but they write, “we’ve stripped back our usual survey, shredding metrics that don’t feel right for 2021… we have taken stock of which cities have got through the past 18 months with some skill and ambition when it comes to preserving the quality of life…”
