The Fukuoka City Transportation Bureau announced that the subway had recorded its first single-year profit in FY 2011 in seven years, since the Nanakuma Line was opened in 2005. They had projected a 900-million-yen loss, but there was 775 million yen in profit instead. The bureau attributed this to the opening of JR Hakata City at the Hakata Station.
