Fukuoka City Suspends Kyushu Electric Power’s Participation in Bidding

Regarding the sale of electricity to businesses, five companies including Kyushu Electric Power and its subsidiary formed a cartel with Kansai Electric Power to avoid competing for customers. In response to this issue, the city of Fukuoka has suspended the participation of Kyushu Electric Power and its subsidiary in competitive bidding for projects commissioned by the city. As a result of this cartel, Kyushu Electric Power was ordered by the Fair Trade Commission to pay a fine of over 2.7 billion yen. Source: NHK
