Beginning on October 1, Fukuoka City will use LINE chat system to announce school closure. Using the new service, the city directly notifies its users of information related to municipal schools’ closures due to typhoons, heavy rainfalls, or other causes. Initially, the system will be used in case of all-school closures alone. The city’s education committee also considers developing a strategy for announcing individual-school closure.
