Fukuoka City plans to employ people with broader backgrounds by introducing a special selection procedure to its recruiting system beginning with the fiscal year of 2019. The new process will start with the selection of senior administrative public servants who will start working from April 2020. Applicants for this selection will be exempted from the written examinations which measure professional knowledge including laws and matters of economics and only need to take a test for liberal arts. Instead, their personal experiences and unique skills will be evaluated through interviews. The number of places for the conventional and the special selection process is yet to be decided, while the application period starts on Apr. 25. The city expects to hear from many applicants who are considering career changes, taking interviews for non-governmental jobs, having studied varieties of themes in universities and more.
