A survey conducted by the Fukuoka Prefecture Employers’ Association from mid-October to mid-November reveals that 34.2% of the 131 companies that responded say they have too many employees or too many employees in certain divisions. That is a 7 percentage-point increase from the year-before period. The reason most cited is the production cutbacks due to the poor economic climate. As a result, more companies are saying they will hire fewer new employees in the spring.
